The Lee County Technology Department consist of approximately 10 employees whose purpose is to serve and support all technology infrastructure and instructional technology needs. We have recently added 12 new Tech Liaisons, one for each school, who are current teachers that support instructional technology training needs after school hours.
Technology Highlights in Lee County Schools:
We currently support and maintain six Distance Learning classrooms between our four High Schools to allow for remote video conferencing classes to be shared between the schools in our District and throughout the State utilizing the State ACCESS program.
We have a high speed Gigabyte Fiber Network connecting all twelve schools together for transmission of data between all locations.
As of July 2008 our Internet Connection for student and faculty access will be operating at 25 Mbs.
In partnership with Auburn University, our district has access to an extremely high speed (OC45) University and Government Internet connection called Internet 2.
Our department serves the district in the following ways:
Install and repair computer equipment in all schools.
Offer support to end users on both hardware and software issues.
Recommend appropriate technology solutions for educational and administrative purposes.
Increase student achievement by recommending methods and training teachers in areas of technology integration in the classroom.
Manage, support and report on the system wide student information management software program.
Secure Federal funding to help finance technology infrastructure needs.
